Kennel Assistant

Reports to Lead Veterinary Assistant

  • Help with cleaning and sterilizing crates, carriers, feral cat traps, surgical instruments, and surgery suites
  • General cleaning of office, lobby, and hallways
  • Observe the animals after surgery to make sure they are recovering properly
  • Assist in washing, drying, and folding laundry. Clean and prepare surgery packs
  • Assist in receiving and returning transported animals to their cages
  • Complete cage cards and collars for next day local surgeries
  • Help prepare syringes for use

Opportunities that may arise for long-term volunteers:

  • Help prepare syringes for use and fill with rabies vaccine
  • Assist with post-operation recovery of cats and dogs
  • Take well-behaved dogs on walks when necessary

Office Assistant

Reports to Executive Assistant

  • Help shred forms and fold organizational brochures
  • Assemble clinic folders for the next day’s clients
  • General cleaning of office, lobby, and hallways

Opportunities that may arise for long-term volunteers:

  • Help set up appointments for surgery clients
  • Help release animals to their owners

Board & Committee Members

Use your expertise to further benefit Pets Alive by serving as a board or committee member. The Pets Alive Board includes dedicated and passionate animal lovers from across the community. Board members meet on the fourth Thursday each month for about one hour. Committee members meet once a month for about an hour. Committees include:

  • Governance – Board policies, recruitment, and member relations
  • Finance – Budget, accounting and finances
  • Development – Fundraising and marketing efforts
    • Pet Photo Contest Subcommittee
    • Casino Night Subcommittee
