Pets Alive relies on volunteers to help maintain a clean and sterile surgery clinic. Pets Alive is not a shelter, and animals are only in our care for a single day as they recover from surgery. Therefore, volunteer tasks do not include care for animals. Below are a few of the tasks for our Kennel Assistant Volunteers:
- Help with cleaning and sterilizing crates, carriers, feral cat traps, surgical instruments, and surgery suites
- General cleaning of office, lobby, and hallways
- Assist in washing, drying, and folding laundry. Clean and prepare surgery packs.
- Assist in receiving and returning transported animals to their cages
Opportunities that may arise for long-term volunteers:
- Help prepare syringes for use and fill with rabies vaccine
- Assist with post-operation recovery of cats and dogs
- Take well-behaved dogs on walks when necessary
